What is the Single Screw and Barrel?

The single-screw is the most crucial component of a plastic extruder. Its design and performance directly determine the extruder's output, melt quality, energy consumption and application range.The single screw barrel is one kind of screw barrel. It is used to process pellets material in a plastic extrusion machine.

The basic functions of a single-screw:

1. Conveying solid plastic particles: Steadily convey plastic particles from the hopper forward.

2. Melting and plasticizing: Through external heating and the shear heat generated by the rotation of the screw, solid plastics are completely melted into a uniform melt.

3. Metering and homogenization: The melt is smoothly conveyed to the die at the die head under constant pressure, quantity and temperature to form.

Common applications:

Single screw barrel is used for single screw extruder, injection machine, blowing molding machine, and injection molding machines.
